Happy 2011!!!  I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I wrote my 2009 Year in Review post.  So much has happened since the beginning of this year both personally and professionally making 2010 an amazing year!!  Before I share a photo from every session I photographed this year I thought I’d post some fun highlights!

Personal Highlights
*We began 2010 in England visiting my family and ended 2010 in Laguna Beach.
*We vacationed in Laguna Beach three times, Las Vegas twice, England, Park City, and Huntington Beach.
*In January we sold our house in Mesa.
*In January we moved in to an apartment in Scottsdale for six months.
*In March I left my job at ASU to pursue photography full time.
*In April I started swimming again on a masters swim team.
*In July we bought a townhouse in central Scottsdale and started remodeling it.
*In August we moved in to our almost completely remodeled townhouse.
*On August 9 we welcomed another nephew in to the family.
*On Christmas Day we announced that we’re expecting our first baby at the beginning of July.
Professional Highlights
*In January I photographed my first wedding as the main photographer.
*In March I left my job at ASU to pursue photography full time.
*In June I flew to Seattle to photograph the amazing Ulrickson family.
*In September I photographed three women who were on the E! show “What’s Eating You” and had my photographs published in “Life and Style Magazine” and “In Touch Weekly.”
*In October I wrote my 50th Friday Favorites post.
*Throughout the year I photographed 5 weddings, 38 portrait sessions, and second shot 8 weddings.  Of the 38 portrait sessions, I photographed 18 family sessions, 1 event, 3 engagement sessions, 6 newborn sessions, 2 babies, 3 kids sessions, 1 graduation session, and 4 headshot sessions.
*I continued working as an associate photographer with Jennifer Bowen, which has been an absolute blessing that I am thankful for everyday.

And without further ado, here is my favorite photo from each portrait session and wedding to summarize this amazing year.  Some of the photos, especially towards the end, have yet to be featured on my blog since I’m a little behind on blogging so consider this a little sneak peek for upcoming posts as well!  Happy 2011!

Yes, I know…I’ve been a very bad blogger!!  It has been crazy busy around here at Jenny Bishop Photography and it’s not slowing down any time soon.  I’ve had session after session along with a few weddings mixed in for good measure and I don’t think I’ll see the light at the end of the tunnel until mid-December.  I’m buried under editing and as I get caught up it seems a few more sessions pile on.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE that I’m busy and count it as a blessing…I’ll just be very ready for a long hibernation come January!  I promise I have lots of new sessions to blog and share so stick with me…you won’t be disapointed.

Now on to what this post is really about…I was published!!!  It’s funny…when I imagined being published for the first time I thought it would be in a wedding magazine or maybe a baby or parent magazine but it turns out the first official time my name was in print was in none other than 2 gossip magazines!  That’s right…my name was mixed in with the likes of paparazzi photographers but let me assure you that it wasn’t for paparazzi style photos.  At the end of September I got a call from a publicist at E! Entertainment!!  At first I thought it was a scam so I did a little research and come to find out it was legit.  It turns out that they needed some photos of three girls who were on the new E! reality series called “What’s Eating You.”  It’s a show on eating disorders and chronicles different women’s journey to try to get better.  Apparently there were quite a few people from Phoenix on the show and I got to photograph three of them in their homes.  I spent under an hour with each girl and got to know a little bit about each of them.  They were all super sweet and made my job quite easy.  The overall look of the photos were supposed to be “lifestylish” and show them in their own surroundings.  Two of the girls photos were published in In Touch Weekly and one was published in Life & Style.  I’ve read both of these magazines for years so it was actually kind of fun to see my name in print and my photos surrounded by other celebrity photos!  And now to show you some photos of the magazines…

Adrienne’s photo was featured in Life & Style…

I loved that her photo appeared next to photos of Lady Gaga…

And my name in print under the article and photo….

Nicky & Kristy’s photos were featured in In Touch Weekly…

My two photos are on the right page….

And I have to give a special shout out and thanks to Michelle Moran for the referral for this job!!  I really appreciate it!!

To explain why I’ve been MIA here in blogland for the past month I thought I’d share a little sneak peek of what I’ve been up to.  Remember this post about the remodel we’d recently undertaken?!  Well, after almost 1-month of work, lots of sweat and a few tears, and at least 100 trips to Home Depot, it’s (for the most part) completed!!  We’re still working on the 1/2 bath and master bath but the kitchen and flooring are DONE!!!  That’s right!  It’s finally to the point where we can live in the house and it doesn’t feel like a construction zone!  We still have a few more things to do in the kitchen like replace the white stove and dishwasher with stainless, install blinds for the windows and put in a tiled backsplash but I couldn’t wait to give you a sneak peek of the completed kitchen.  We’re waiting to get a new stove and dishwasher until next year since the ones that came with the house were brand new but the blinds and backsplash will be completed soon!  And once the bathrooms are completed and the house is somewhat decorated then I’ll reveal the whole remodel!  Happy Monday!

Little kids in brightly colored swimsuits and swim trunks, oversized goggles, the smell of Coppertone sunscreen, and a swimming pool are what summer memories are made of! I spent most of my childhood summers playing in our backyard swimming pool and I love looking back on photos of my sister and me in those little kid one pieces with pink, big goggles and wet ponytails. Let’s face it…we all know summer is here and is not going anywhere and since summer brings an almost unbearable heat I’d like to offer a fun way to get photos of your kids while staying cool! Let me come to your house or meet you at a splash pad and wear your kids out for 45 minutes before bed time and after dinner. We’ll get some fun photos as the sun goes down and as the kids splish and splash in the water or run around in the sprinklers. You don’t have to have a big, fancy resort-style pool to make these photos amazing…just a little sprinkler in your yard or a baby pool will be just as amazing! And if you’d prefer, we can head to downtown Gilbert or Tempe Marketplace and take advantage of their fun water features for the kids to run and play in. Check out the fun photos of Lily and Topher’s Summer Splashin’ Session at the Gilbert Splash Pad to get an idea of what the session will entail! For more information or to schedule a session please email me at jenny@jennybishopphotography.com. I hope to see you and your kids soon for some fun in the water!
